Speech 3:  Orientation Speech

February 19, 2007

Good morning and welcome to Live Nation’s Volunteer Orientation day for our charity concert series, here in the beautiful port city of Wilmington, N.C.  I want to, first of all, thank every one of you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to participate in this program.  As you know, our organization depends heavily on volunteers and dedicated individuals like yourself, and I would have to say that I don’t know what we would do without people like you.

That being said, know that we are an organization with very high expectations that is committed to excellence at all times.  Our past volunteers have been extremely dedicated, giving countless hours of their time to help others.

Our series of charity concerts requires many different types of people and jobs, from those of you who will be maintaining crowd control to working concessions, every job is equally important in the event’s success.

Now, moving on to actual training, each of you will be required to attend two out of the three training sessions prior to working the event to get you acquainted with the way our system works.  The first two sessions will be held one week before the actual concert, which is yet to be determined, and the final will be the day before the show.  At the second and third meeting, you will be given your volunteer t-shirt, which you will wear at the actual event.

At these training sessions, each of you will sign up for an available volunteer position and then break up into your respective instruction groups.  I will remind you that your full attention will be required for these sessions as our charity concert’s success depends on each and every one of you as much as it does myself and my colleagues.  This event is not for us, it is for others, and we should keep that in mind.

We need you to treat this event like other people’s lives depend on it, because, really, they do.  Live Nation will not make any profit from this concert as 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to charity.

I want to thank you all, again, for coming out today and I hope to soon be working with each of you as we come together to help others.  Thank you.
