                                                            Motivational Speech

Good Evening! I would like to thank you all for making it to this meeting on such short notice.  I will make this brief I just have a few concerns I would like to bring to everyone’s attention.  First, on a positive note, everyone has gone over and beyond my expectations as far as reaching out and getting involved with various projects through United Way and around the community.  In this past year we have had more volunteers come out than any other previous years and for that I thank you.  I do understand that this is a non- paid organization and many of you have other obligations outside of here which is understandable and we can work with that.  My concern, however, is that some of the volunteers are either not showing up when they are supposed to meet or they are bringing the wrong energy to this organization.  I feel as though United Way is something that people get involved with because they want to make a difference and lend a hand when necessary, not something that people should feel obligated to do. My goal as supervisor over volunteers is to get each of you excited and involved with something that does not interfere with your personal lives and it is something that each of you will enjoy doing.  I want this to be something that everyone will look back on and say “I am really glad I had a part in that”. I expect each of you to be on time when you are scheduled to volunteer and bring a positive attitude that will encourage others to want to take part.  If you cannot meet for some reason or another or you are just having a bad day, please don’t hesitate to call me and we can make other arrangements.  I can work with you if you work with me.

Here very soon we are starting up several new projects such as a charity basketball game and a charity parade that we hope will attract the attention of the community and hopefully get more and more people involved but we cannot do that without your contributions.  I want everyone to know this meeting was not called to discourage anyone from taking part in this organization. I appreciate everyone’s support and understand that most of you have other priorities we would just like to know about them.  These concerns are only minor and as we look to the future I just want everyone to be on the same page with the expectations I have for you as volunteers.  Again, I would like to thank everyone for coming and look forward to working with each of you in the future.

Thank You!
