I want you to find at least four passages in the Phaedrus that describe an ideal rhetoric or its converse, the sophistical rhetoric. You should either copy them or indicate the page that they can be found on in the dialogue. Next, I want you to write an explanation of what these passages indicate about the nature of an ideal rhetoric. In your paper you should discuss such issues as: truth versus opinion, and appearance versus reality. You should also discuss the nature of the soul and how a good rhetorician will deal with individual differences in the nature of human souls.

 

This should be a good essay with an introduction, a thesis statement and a body with clearly developed arguments.
