Motivation Speech

First, I would like to thank the Marketing Division for meeting with me today. However, it is for a reason that I am not happy to meet with you all. Here at the Wilmington Sea Dawgs, one of our main goals is to put people in the seats of the Schwartz Center so they may enjoy the great basketball product we put on the court. And here in the Marketing Division, your NUMBER ONE goal is building attendance, and so far this year, you all have not done your jobs.

There are over 100,000 people in the Wilmington area, and add in Brunswick and Pender Counties, about 350,000 people. There is no reason that we can’t get between 1,000-1,500 people in the seats for every home game.

When we hired people for this company, we told you that we were looking for winners. It’s time for you all to start showing that trait, because you all have it inside. You all can shine. You all ARE winners, and you all WILL succeed. But a transformation in the way you work starts today. I want a new marketing plan drafted by the end of the week and in place by the next home game. This plan should focus more on selling families, and tourists.

I want every sponsor contacted. Every school contacted. Every radio/television/magazine and newspaper company contacted. I want every living breathing person within these three counties contacted, whether they know what a basketball is or not, I want them at the games!! This next home game WILL be sold out. I want this plan to be the best marketing I have ever seen. And I know it is possible because I hired everyone of you, and you all have more talent in your pinkies than some people have in their entire body. It is time to start showing what you’re made of people!

I want you to work not harder than you ever have, but smarter than you ever had. And once you all succeed in what you set out to do, because you will, you all will be very rewarded! Now go sell some tickets!!!!
