Speech
I would like to take a brief moment of your time today to
talk about some of the concerns we are having her at United Way.
It has become my understanding that we are not meeting
our goals and donating the time and effort that we are used to seeing around
here. I want to remind you that these
people in the community need our help.
They need us to extend our hand and guide them to a better
tomorrow. Now I can’t do it alone, and I
can’t make you do it. You have to have
the desire to want to help to your full potential. You signed up to help for a reason. You want to make a positive difference in the
community. We are fortunate to be on the
opposite side helping; instead of the ones who need to be helped. This community needs your help. I think if you take a good look around this
room; you will find people that would help you in any situation that might
be. This is because you care; you
wouldn’t be here if you didn’t care.
Do you remember the time when you saw something and
thought “I want to make a change in my community?” Do you remember the drive you had to make
that difference? Do you remember the time when you walked through those front
doors the first day to volunteer? Do you
remember the first time you saw the face of the person you helped?
We, as a group, are capable of so much positivity being
spread throughout this community. I hate
to see us short change ourselves. They
need you. We need you. Let’s remember why
we walked through those front doors in the first place, determined to make a
difference. Thank you for your time.
