Good morning. I
want to thank all of you for coming here and joining us in honoring one of our
very own United Way volunteers. Every day we come
together hand in hand to help those in our surrounding communities so that they
may move forward in their journey in life.
Today we are here for one of our own that has always given nothing less
than 100% effort.
We will be presenting the lifetime achievement
award. We give this award out to a well
deserved individual who has given not only their time and money as a sacrifice
for others, but more importantly their heart and soul has been in their
volunteer work from day one. This person
always exceeds their expectations and strives to make a positive
difference in others lives.
There are many people in our organization that have been
nominated. Every one of them are noble
persons who deserve it, unfortunately we only have one award. But we want to thank all of you for your
praiseworthy work and devoted time.
This particular individual has committed themselves to
their volunteer work since the day they came to our organization. This person
has always put others first and made them feel like they were the most
important person at that time. He has
volunteered countless hours; always making sure things are done to their best
capability. He has accomplished great
tasks that were up against him. He started our Wilmington, North Carolina
chapter and it has been such a success; we are so proud of him. He has also found a way for United Way to
come hand in hand with other organizations to make a severe change in the way
we look and do things; our organization is better because of him. He
always makes sure that the people get the proper care and pointed in the right
direction. I heard him once say “If you
fish for a man, he can eat for a day. If
you teach a man to fish, he can eat for a lifetime.” This is a quote from
someone who truly cares about others well being.
We here at United Way want to show our deepest
appreciation for this person who has made such a great impact on our
organization and we are proud to have them be a part of what we represent. We
want to give this person a trip on a cruise for a week for him and his wife,
which I’m sure they will have a lovely time. Will you all please stand and join
me in congratulating, Ron Sanders.
