Get into your groups and answer the following questions on a piece of paper with all your names on it.

1) Why did Cahokia expand so dramatically in population and mound-construction during the Lohmann phase?

2) What was the political structure of Cahokia? Why? When did it change? Give your reasons for these conclusions, and explain.

3) What effect did Contact with the Europeans have on Mississippian peoples? Why were Native Americans able to fight off the Viking colonists, but not the later Spanish and English colonists? Explain.
