Easter Island Collapse

The Easter Island video is Riddles of the Monument Builders: Mysteries of Easter Island GN 790.R522 1995. It is on reserve at the library—make sure to fast-forward through the section on the Sphinx and watch the Easter Island video. Remember, it was done in 1995, and misses much recent work. Several radiocarbon dates given follow the Long Chronology, and therefore are not now viewed as accurate.

After doing the readings, attending the lectures, and watching the video on Easter Island, you should have plenty of information. Decide what you think happened, and why. Was there a collapse prior to the landing of the Europeans? Were there two collapses? Was it ecocide?
