ANT 312 001
Fall 2009
Note: Old electronic readings are now linked to the Course Schedule page. Enjoy!!
Next Class
Tuesday,
November 17 we will talk about
irrationality and folly again. Please
read “Rational
Irrationality” on the New Yorker website.
Also, some people were interested in the readings that I almost assigned
for this class period—Tulipomania
from Extraordinary Popular Delusions and
the Madness of Crowds by Charles Mackay, and the extremely funny “The
heat of the moment: the effect of sexual arousal on sexual decision making”
by Ariely and Lowenstein in the Journal
of Behavioral Decision Making—note, this last reference is through Wiley Interscience
and will need to be accessed from a university computer or through the library
website.
Coming Soon...
Thursday, November 19 we will finish talking about irrationality and have an
exercise. There is no reading for today.
Tuesday, November 24 we will talk about collapse as a cautionary tale and
have a discussion exercise. There is no
reading for today.
Tuesday, December 1 is our last day of
class! It will be a review session and
discussion—please come prepared!!
