MULTICULTURALISM IN APPLIED SOCIOLOGY

 

Why? 1. Increasing ethnic, religious, racial, sexual diversity in America

 

Need to be aware of a groups’ values, beliefs, experiences when doing a project

 

2. All projects include diversity issues:

    1. Hired to address an organizations needs to be more inclusive

      Example: hired to develop program to improve nutrition amoung rural elderly

*Beware ethnocentrism. Always take the role of other.
