HEA 234 Principles of Health Education Interview Guidelines

This project will involve interviewing a practicing health educator in one of the following settings - College or University, Hospital or Medical, Worksite, School, or Community.  Working alone or in groups of no more than three, complete the following:

  1. Identify and contact a health educator locally, in your hometown, on the Internet, at another university, etc.  Be sure to introduce yourself and why you are contacting them.

  1. Ask them 6 questions, three of which must be:

    1. Tell me about your educational background.
    2. What are your current title and job responsibilities?
    3. What health education do they do as part of their job?

  1. The other three questions must be made up by the group, but should pertain to health education and the concepts talked about in class.

  1. After the interview, based on what we have learned in class about definitions of health education, how behavior is changed, the process of health education, etc., give me your thoughts about whether you feel the person interviewed is a health educator, as defined in class.  Be sure to include reasons to back up your statements.  You can probably do this in less than 2 or three pages.

  1. Type all this up and put together in a three-ring binder.
