Documents

Top ten ways to ensure that your project looks like a student project.

I will also include the project script and other documents here.

Manuals

Manuals in .pdf format for equipment that we may discuss or use during the course: the Sekonic Studio Deluxe L-398M lightmeter, Pentax K-1000 35mm still camera (or slightly clearer version in parts 1 & 2), Braun Nizo Super-8 camera, the Krasnogorsk-3 16mm camera, the Eclair ACL-1 16mm camera, and the Panasonic AG-DVX100 24P miniDV camera (and brochure).

Diagrams and Spec Sheets

Here is a useful diagram illustrating exposure for Vision2 500T (5218/7218) stock that demonstrates how different stops will be represented.

Here are spec sheets from Kodak for Super-8 Kodachrome 40 (7268) and 16mm Vision2 100T (7212) films that we may use during the semester. They cover important aspects of the film such as exposure, use of filters, and characteristic curves.

Examples & Programs

HDRShop can be downloaded and run on a Windows machine. Load the example "Red Cross & Fourth" image to view how exposure will vary at different stops by pressing + and -. (This program is normally used to construct high-dynamic-range images to match lighting on cg effects shots that will be composited with original film plates. For an example, see the image on my 220 page or this .mov file. Notice the reflection in the silver ball. It should look familiar because that image was "lit" with the "Red Cross & Fourth" image.)
