About

Dr. Ray Pastore is a Full Professor and Program Coordinator of Esports and Online Teaching and Learning within the Instructional Technology program at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. He is an active Youtuber with over 5 million views and 9,000 subscribers, an author, and has 29 peer reviewed journal publications. With a background in management consulting, game design, game-based learning, and instructional design he has worked on projects for fortune 100 companies, the military, as well as a myriad of schools and universities. In addition to serving as coordinator of UNCW’s Esports program, Dr. Pastore is faculty advisor for UNCW’s Seahawk Esports Club. He holds a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems from Penn State University.

Research

Dr. Pastore’s research focuses on multimedia, game design and esports, time compressed audio, online learning, and metacognitive strategies that support learning from a multimedia environment.

teaching

Dr. Pastore has been teaching online, face-to-face, and hybrid courses since the early 2000s. He has taught at Penn State University, Slippery Rock University, Walden University, the University of Phoenix, and most recently the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW). His teaching experience includes a myriad of courses on topics including: game design and development, technology use in the classroom and corporate workplace, instructional design practice and theory, project management, online course design and development, programming, esports, virtual reality, mobile learning, evaluation, and multimedia development (CBT).
