Grapple, Guns, and Guts!
"The Manueversm Props, and Sounds of Fights for Film and Stage"
Description:
This course will include training techniques in unarmed combat: punches and reactions, vocal sounds of the fight, falls and rolls, working with blank firing guns and non-firing gun replicas (permits are being sought to allow for blanks to be fired with in city limits). How to prepare for a screen test with a firearm.

Introduction to Body & Voice Work
Description:
This course is designed to provide students who have limited understanding as to how to prepare the body and voice for work as an actor. Areas of concentration include; relaxation techniques (dealing with stage fright), the basics of voice and body conditioning and the anatomy of the breath.
2 week course:
Meeting for 2 hours once per week

Beginning Body & Voice Work I
Description:
This course is designed to provide students with the skills necessary to strengthen the body’s core and free the physical blocks which prevent confidence in auditions and performance. Areas of alignment, breath, beginning dialect reduction and articulation strategies are made accessible through this course.
4 week course:
Meeting for 2 hours once per week

Beginning Body & Voice Work II
Description:
This course continues to develop the actor’s connection to the physical instrument and focuses on freeing physical and vocal expression through exercises and text work. Areas of character development, eliminating performance anxiety and regional dialects reduction are explored.
4 week course:
Meeting for 2 hours once per week

Intermediate Body & Voice Work I
Description:
In this course Actors acquire techniques for channeling the voice for stage and camera work. Components of voice and speech are focused on in such a ways as to provide students with a methodology for preparing work on camera and stage. Areas of word working, creating a physical and vocal score are developed.
4 week course:
Meeting for 2 hours once per week

Intermediate Body & Voice Work II
Description:
This course is designed for Actors who have developed a vocal process
which is capable of applying components to voice and speech in order to develop dialects for on camera work and stage performance Areas of dialects, period style work and scansion are developed. 4 week course:
Meeting for 2 hours once per week

Advanced Voice Work I
Description:
In this course Actors acquire a wide range of dialects as well as safe vocal techniques for complex voice skills which, without proper technique, can prove harmful for the voice. In addition to learning three stage dialects (chosen at the discretion of the instructor) areas of voice work will be explored such as; screaming, yelling, crying, keening, laughing and character voice.
4 week course:
Meeting for 2 hour once per week

Advanced Voice Work II
Description:
In this course Actors acquire a wide range of specialized dialects (Farsi, African…) as well as the development of character voices for work on stage and voiceovers. Areas of voiceover preparation, delivery as well as beginning a construction of a demo reel will be explored.
4 week course:
Meeting for 2 hours once per week
Stage Combat I (unarmed)
Description:
In this course Actors explore the basic concepts and techniques for learning, rehearsing and performing unarmed staged fights for on camera work and for the theatre.
2 week course:
Meeting for 2 hours once per week

Stage Combat II (armed)
Description:
In this course Actors explore the basic concepts and techniques for learning, rehearsing and performing armed staged fights for on camera work and for the theatre. Weapons covered are specific to the course. Weapon selection is made by the instructor after consultation with students as to their primary area of interest.

Stage Combat III & IV (armed and unarmed)
Description:
Actors who have received basic training continue to refine their skills and are introduced to more complex maneuvers and basic choreography strategies. Areas of focused are determined by the instructor.
4 week course:
Meeting for 2 hours once per week

Clowning Techniques
Description:
During this course Actors are introduced to techniques used in both physical comedy and circus skills. Areas explored may include; juggling (balls, pins, cigar boxes, Diablo, torches), knife throwing, balloon animals, face painting, developing a clown character, improvisation, storytelling, physical comedy techniques (lazzi). Course content is determined by the instructor based on consensus of areas of interest.
6 week course:
Meeting for 2 hours once per week

Mime & Mask
Description: Students will explore the art of mime and the development of a mask. Techniques may include French Mime, Corporeal Mime, Dance Mime, as well as neutral mask, character mask and the masks of the commedia dell’Arte. Course content is determined by the instructor based on consensus of areas of interest.
6 week course:
Meeting for 2 hours once per week
