Scott Nice’s philosophy in the design of Studio Nice is to provide both immediate and holistic training techniques which free the breath. All gestures, both physical and voiced are powered and empowered by breath. We breathe both without thinking about it and by imposing our will to shape and control our breath for a desired expression. Often times, when one is stressed or in “unfamiliar territory,” the breath is held or restricted. As the freedom of the authentic breath is restricted, the potential for one’s expression is limited as well. Studio Nice explores holistic practices and techniques in order to promote a fuller access to the potential for human behavior, both spontaneous and crafted. These techniques are not only helpful for those who are training and working in performance but for those in fields dealing with the public, it is also; “good human being training.” Studio Nice celebrates the exploration of the voice and physical gesture to promote a potentially happy, healthier and more productive life.
