Presentation Guidelines
Outline for a presentation
- What is the issue ? Describe it in sufficient detail so that
the audience understands it.
- What problems (or benefits) does the issue generate ?
- Who is affected by it ? How are they affected ?
- What is the impact ? Monetary, economic, productivity other ?
What statistics exist on this matter ?
- The three
sides of the story
- The proponents. What is the position of the people who are not bothered by it. How
do they defend their position ?
- The opponents. What is the position of the people who are bothered by it. How do
they defend their position ?
- The truth. What would an unbiased view find ? What have judges,
and courts said on the matter ?
- Technological, legal, economic, social solutions for the issue.
- How will the proposed solution make things better ?
- How will the proposed solution make things worse ?
- How do people see the issue developing in the future ?
- Based on your research, what can you say about future
developments in this matter ?
Powerpoint guidelines
- Plan on using no more than 15 slides for a 20 minute presentation.
- No more than 6-8 lines/points per slide
- Large, readable font. Say a minimum of 16-18 point font.
- Use color, animation etc. judiciously. Too much annoys and
distracts.
