CSC 241 - FIRST DAY ANNOUNCEMENTS
FALL 2002

  1. Course Objective: The objective of this course is to introduce students to important concepts in computer organization, assembly language programming, procedural programming in C, and embedded systems.

  3. Class time: 12:00 - 12:50 MW in DeLoach 114. Unless announced otherwise, on Fridays section 1 of the class will meet from 12:00 - 12:50 in BR 165, and section 2 will meet from 1:00 - 1:50 in BR 165. The Friday meetings can be considered a lab but may be used to present lecture material as needed. Each student may only attend their assigned lab section. No requests for specific lab sections can be entertained.

  5. Homework: There will be several graded homework assignments. All homework must be YOUR OWN INDIVIDUAL WORK. The UNCW Academic Honor Code will be enforced. Each homework assignment will have a ``due date'' and is expected to be submitted in class. Homework assignments turned in after the due date will be assessed a penalty of 20% per weekday late.
  6. Tests and Grading: You will have 3 in-class tests on the following dates:

    In general, no make up tests will be given; if you miss a test and have a PREARRANGED reason, your final exam grade may be substituted for it.

    You will have a FINAL EXAM on Saturday, December 14, 2002 from 11:30 pm - 2:30 pm. If you are passing the course, and if you cannot take the final exam when it is scheduled because of an emergency beyond your control, and if you notify me BEFORE the end of classes, you may possibly receive an ``I'' in the course.

    Course grade: A = 90-100, B = 80-89, C = 70-79 etc. The upper and lower 30% of all grade ranges (except the A range) will be assigned + and - modifiers, respectively. For instance, a grade of 93 will result in an A-.
  7. Students with Disabilities:  If you have a disability and need
    reasonable accomodation in this course, you should inform
    the instructor of this fact in writing within the first week
    of class or as soon as possible. If you have not already done
    so, you must register with the Office of Disability Services
    in Westside Hall (extension 3746) and obtain a copy of your
    Accomodation Letter. You should then meet with your instructor
    to make mutually agreeable arrangements based on the recommendations
    of the Accomodation Letter.
