Course Description

Colloquium I examines issues, theory and practice shaping the field of instructional technology.  It is designed to focus on the knowledge base for instructional technologists. Students will engage in reviewing issues, identifying trends, debating theory application, and developing researchable questions.


Course General Purposes

The purposes of the course are for students to:

  1. Become aware of current trends and issues in the field of instructional technology
  2. Identify  knowledge, skills and competencies required of instructional technologists
  3. Become aware of  instructional technologists' roles and responsibilities in different settings (public schools, business & industry, military, higher education, etc.)
  4. Develop ideas and researchable questions
  5. Find specific areas of interest for their program of study
  6. Make connections with the practitioners in the field

Course Requirements

Students enrolled in this course are expected to:

  1. Attend each of the presentations, and to arrive at each session on time.
     
  2. Prepare a two-page report describing a particular presentation that interests them the most .  You must present a minimum of two reports.
     
  3. Students should submit their the first report to Dr. Mory via e-mail by midnight, Thursday, March 27th
    Students should submit their second report to Dr. Mory via e-mail
    by midnight, Thursday, May 1st.
     
  4. In your report, you should include the following information:

Reports will be graded on an "S" / "U" basis. Students who receive a "U" in one of the submitted reports will be required to prepare another report. Students who receive a "U" on both reports will receive a grade of "U" for the class.

Reports are due on the dates listed in number 3 above.  If your report is posted late, you will receive "U" for that report.

Students enrolled in this course will receive either an "S" or a "U" grade.
