3. Department committee memberships, leadership positions, or administrative
duties
Graduate Program Coordinator for Master of Science in Instructional Technology,
Fall 1999-present. The following highlights my duties:
- Coordinate the course offering for the MIT program and assist with scheduling
courses.
- Coordinate program sub-committees and oversee the committees’ decisions
and operations.
- Coordinate program development and revisions.
Identify program resource needs and assist the department chair in planning
for finding ways to fill the needs.
- Develop program planning sheets and other related forms.
- Conduct annual program evaluation, analyze the results and share the results
with the department chair and MIT faculty for program review and revision.
- Process student admission at the program level by forming and chairing admission
committee and reviewing applications in a timely manner every semester.
- Organize and chair regular program meetings.
- Respond to all inquires about the MIT program in a timely manner and meet
with interested applicants when requested.
- Find appropriate internship sites and visit sites or meet with responsible
individuals to establish a relationship.
- Present the program in meetings or events.
- Coordinate MIT student organization.
- Coordinate student orientation.
- Advise students within the program and oversee MIT faculty advising.
- Manage, develop, and maintain MIT Web site.
Chair of the Core Committee for EDN 301, Instructional Design and Classroom
Evaluation 1994-2001. The following highlights my duties:
- Coordinated the multi-sections EDN 301 Instructional Design and Classroom
Evaluation course. In that capacity, I coordinated the review of the course
content, course syllabus and assignments to assure similar expectations across
sections and between the course and methods courses. I also served as resource
person for full time and part-time faculty who teach the course.
- Worked with new part-time faculty providing them with the resources and
mentoring they need to be successful in the classroom. In that capacity, I
help them with the content of the course and assignments and assist them in
evaluating assignments, understanding the importance of EDN 301 as a core
course and the needs of the student.
- Worked with the methods faculty (Department of Curricular Studies) to make
sure that EDN 301 requirements are aligned with their methods courses. In
addition, I shared some resource material for the EDN 301 with the methods
instructors to improve the linkage between EDN 301, as a core course, and
methods courses.
- Initiated and prepared a departmental guide for part-time faculty.
Chair, Search committee for Instructional Design Position. The search resulted
in hiring two new faculty members (Dr. Murdock and Dr. Summerville), 2002-2003.
Member, Core Committee for EDN 301, 2001-present.
Chair, Online Course Evaluation Committee, 2000-2001. As the chair, my duties
were:
- to review online learning environments (at the time this was new idea) around
the country and share the results with the committee,
- to assist the committee in exploring issues related to instructional, technical,
and administrative support for online learning environments,
- to lead the discussion on standards for online course, and finally
- to generate a document for Watson School of Education Procedural Handbook
summarizing the committee’s discussions on the above-mentioned issues.

Member, Core Review Committee, 1997-1998.
Coordinator, Five Year Plan Core Committee for EDN 301, 1996-1997.
Member, Five Year Plan for Establishing the Instructional Technology Master's
Program, 1996-1997.
Chair, Instructional Technology Masters Program Committee (principle writer
of Plan for Establishing the Instructional Technology Program), 1997-1998.
Chair, Instructional Technology Writing Committee (responsible for researching,
writing and then revising Plan for Authorization of the program), 1995-1997.
Coordinator, Curriculum Articulation Committee, 1996-1997.
Co-chair, Search Committee for hiring a faculty member for MSA Program, 1996-1997.
Member, Search Committee for hiring the second position in MSA Program, 1996-1997.
Chair, Curriculum Review Committee. The committee was charged to review core
curriculum and recommend proper changes, 1994-1995.
Member, NCATE committee. The committee was responsible for writing reports
for NCATE visitation, 1994-1995.
Chair, Committee for Honors Program. The committee was responsible for reviewing
WSE proposals for Honors Program, 1993-1994.
Member, Multicultural Education Committee, 1993-1994.
