Professional Consultancies Resulting in Professional Development
Fall 2001-Present: Evaluator for Preparing Tomorrow’s Teachers to Use Technology (PT3) Grant ($963,815). I have been the primary evaluator for the grant. Due to the strong emphasis of this federally funded grant on both formative and summative evaluation data and continuous report of improvement and my expertise in educational technology and assessment, I have served multiple roles. My responsibilities as an evaluator of the project included: developing evaluation plan, meeting with the client to revise and adjust the plan every year, developing instruments and data gathering tools, collecting data, analyzing data, developing and maintaining a website, and writing reports. In addition, I participated in and presented at several PT3 nation-wide conferences, attended all grant related meetings and provided regular feedback for improvement (in addition interim and annual reports). I also supervised four graduate students who worked with me in conducting the evaluation studies. Summer 2003: Consultant in developing online assessment
materials for UNC Office of the President's web site. Worked as a consultant
with the Office of the President (1) to develop online assessment resource materials
for UNC Teaching & Learning with Technology; and (2) to develop a template
for case study reports for UNC Teaching & Learning with Technology. (Refer

Spring 2004 & 2003 Reviewer of Annual Grant Reports for Comprehensive School
Reform, State of North Carolina. I was part of a team of four reviewers. We
reviewed about 80 reports each year. In addition to completing the evaluation
form for each report, we met as a team to discuss each report and to come to
consensus.
Summer 2004, 2003, & 2002: Reviewer of Comprehensive School Reform Grant Proposals for State of North Carolina. I was part of a team of four reviewers. We reviewed more than 80 grant proposals each year. In addition to completing the evaluation forms for each grant proposal, we met as a team to discuss each proposal and to come to consensus. A limited number of well-developed grants were to be selected each year.
Year 2000-2001: Member of a team of evaluators for a federally
funded evaluation grant to assess NC schools funded by Comprehensive School
Reform Grant. During my term, as a member of this evaluation team,
I visited a number of schools and spent a minimum of two days in each school
to gather data, to assess the implementation process and to evaluate the outcome
results. I also participated in writing a short report for each school.
Spring 2000 Consultant to North Carolina Teach (NCTeach) for developing training
modules. I worked with a team and was responsible for designing and developing
several modules with proper materials for instructors and students.
Summer 2000: Coordinator for the Watson
School of Education summer initiative effort on Classroom assessment.
My responsibility was to lead a team of faculty members to develop strategies
and proposals for improving assessment of learning.
Summer 1995 Consultant to Syndicate National des Associations des Parents de
Enfants Inadaptes (SNAPEI) for generating complete curriculum and training materials
for mentally disabled children and adults in France (Phase IV).
Summer 1994: Consultant to Syndicate National des Associations de Parents des Enfants Inadaptes (SNAPEI) for developing outcome based curriculum for mentally disabled children in France (Phase III).

4b. Pro Bono Professional Consultancies
Consultant for “The impact of PDA technology on clinical
performance outcomes of undergraduate baccalaureate nursing students” project.
Had consultation meetings with Dr. RuthAnne Kuiper, as she worked on preparing
her research grant (Spring, Summer, & Fall 2004).
Consultant for “Graduate Program on Nurse Educators.” Had Consultation
meetings with Dr. Susan E. Scheuring, the graduate coordinator for the School
of Nursing, to advise on the MIT courses that could be listed for their new
program. (Spring 2004).
Consultant for “How to use technology to improve Professional Development
Systems?” project. Had consultation meetings with the director of the
Professional Development Systems to assist the system in identifying technological
and innovative ways of promoting communication within school systems, Fall 2003,
and Spring 2004.
Consultant for “How to develop an online course” project. A two-hour consultation
meeting with Dr. Morris Beers from State University of New York to assist him
in his effort to develop an online course, Spring 2004.
Consultant for “Preparing Professional Development Materials for National
Board Certification” project. One-on-one consultation meetings (minimum
of five sessions) with three high school and middle school teachers to assist
them in gathering data, interpreting data and writing report for their National
Board Certification materials. Fall 2003, Spring 2002, Spring 2001.
Consultant for “Use of technology in teaching” project. A one
hour consultation meeting with Dr. Carol Marinas from Barry University to assist
her in her efforts to integrate technology in teaching in Barry School of Arts
and Science. Fall 2002.
