Community Service
Jointly planned and coordinated (with Dr. Hengameh Kermani) a cultural event
to bring the Iranian community together specifically to promote and enhance
cultural identities of American-Iranian children. The event presented children
with information about their cultural heritage. A Forum was also established
to continue the effort on a more regular base, Wilmington, NC 1997-present.
Served as a member of Cape Fear Regional Partnership Network Task Force for
distance education, Wilmington, NC 1993-1997.
Served in a newly formed organization in the community called “Alliance for
Community Transformations.” The purpose of the organization is to act as a support
network to promote personal and professional wholeness, growth and renewal in
the community at large. The group committed to make changes in the community
by getting the members of the community involved in developing a future vision
and in planning actions to improve the quality of life and health in the greater
community, Wilmington, NC 1996-97.
