Interesting facts: Eleven years ago I was married in Christ Church,  New Zealand.  I had always wanted   to visit New Zealand and my husband made my dream come true.  We saw yellow-eyed penguins, albatros,  glaciers, and much more.  It was wonderful.  I also discovered I love meat pies and New Zealand makes the best ones in the world!.

Area of Study: Physiology and biochemistry

Research interests: Presently I am studying the effects of large fiber diameter in fish white muscle on the   recovery of high-energy molecules. I am also interested in the effects of cellular design and organization on physiology and ecology of marine organisms. Finally, I'd eventually like to start examining the physiological ecology of animals from extreme environments (deep ocean, polar, desert, and long-term hibernating organisms).

Hobbies and other interests: When not in the lab, I enjoy teaching kids, playing volleyball, ice skating, roller blading, fishing, reading, and playing/writing music
