What should I do first?

Getting Started Checklist

1) Read the document, “Who Should or Should not Take This course”

2) Read the syllabus carefully.  It contains important information about how this course works and how you will be graded. It is critical to your success that you understand the course set-up, the grading process, and the late policies.

3) Obtain the Computing Essentials book, either 2012 or 2013 complete version or plan to use the copies on reserve in the library.

4) Log into Blackboard (https://learn.uncw.edu) which is where we will do the first part of the course. If you are new to Blackboard, there is an Orientation link on the course menu.

5) Introduce yourself to the class in the discussion forum.

6) Purchase your SimNet code either from the bookstore or online. This is the other website you will use for the second part of the course.

To purchase online, go to SimNet: http://uncw.simnetonline.com/.Note: if you bought a used book or a new book from a non-campus store, you may need to purchase a SimNet account separately. You can buy it online through the link in this bullet, or the bookstore should have some if you ask at the counter.

a. Accept the License Agreement

b. Scroll down to enroll in the appropriate section for this course: "SP13 XXX".

c. Select: SimNet for Office 2010 - Office Suite ($65.00) - you do not need to buy the $80 package.

d. Enter the Registration Code. If you are buying on-line, you will not get a code, just continue and have your credit card ready!!

e. Enter your personal information. Please use your UNCW e-mail address, login, and ID#.

7) Get started on Chapter 1 of the text.
