Luke Davis: Luke is working on the effects of hydrography and bottom boundary layer dynamics on sediment mobility on the inner continental shelf of Long Bay, NC. He is pursuing a Masters in Geology.
Devon Eulie: Devon is examining sediment deposition in riparian swamps and marshes along the lower Cape Fear River. She is pursuing a Masters in Geology.
Sara Althof: Sara's research examines surface flow hydrodynamics in Spartina marshes. She is completing a Masters in Marine Science.
Pam Medley: Pam will be examining sediment mobility and stratigraphic changes on the upper shoreface of Long Bay. She is pursuing a Masters in Geology.
Jesse Baldwin: Jesse will be developing a wave climatology for the Cape Fear Region. He is pursuing a Masters in Geology.
GRADUATES
Lori Saal: Lori earned her Masters degree in Geology in 2005. Her thesis title: "Rainfall Impacts on Suspended Sediment Concentrations in an Urbanized Tidal Creek, Southeastern North Carolina".
Ansley Wren: Ansley earned her Ph.D. through the UNCW/NCSU Cooperative Program and graduated in 2004. She is now Assistant Professor at Coastal Carolina University. Her research interests include sediment transport on the continental shelf, surf zone, and in marshes. Ansley's dissertation title: "Sediment Transport Adjacent to a Marine Hardbottom on the Mid-Continental Shelf: Onslow Bay, NC".
Jeff Marshall: Jeff completed his Masters degree in Geology in 2004. Jeff's thesis title "Event Driven Sediment Mobility on the Inner Continental Shelf of Onslow Bay".
Alisha Renfro: Alisha completed her Masters Degree in Marine Science in 2004. Alisha's thesis title: "Sediment Deposition and Accumulation in a Brown and Black-Water River System."
Maverick Raber: Maverick completed his Masters in Geology in 2004. Thesis title: "Characteristics of Sediments Transported to and Deposited in the Cape Fear River Estuary, North Carolina".
Beth Reimer: Beth
completed her Masters in Geology in 2004. Beth's thesis title: "Influences
of Major Storm Events on Backbarrier Salt Marsh Change: Masonboro Island,
Southeastern North Carolina".
Jennifer O'Reilly: Jen completed her Masters degree in Marine Science in 2003. Her thesis title: "Assessment of Tidally Influenced Riparian Wetlands as Sinks for Fecal Coliform Bacteria."
Alex Croft: Alex earned his Masters in Geology in 2003. Alex's thesis title: "The Effects of Thin Layer Dredge Material Disposal on Tidal Marsh Processes, Masonboro Island, NC".
Kim Nelson: Kim completed her Masters in Geology in 2002. Kim's thesis title: "Transplanted Oyster Beds as Self-Sustaining Mechanisms for Water Quality Improvement in Small Tidal Creeks".
Shelly Miller: Shelly completed her Masters in Marine Science in 2002. Her thesis title: "An Examination of Phosphorous and Sediment Characteristics within Anthropogenically Impacted Estuarine Watersheds".
