Biology 357:  Ichthyology

Welcome to Dr. Lankford's Ichthyology course webpage!  This course is designed as an introduction to the study of fishes for upper-level undergraduate and graduate students.

Lectures (3 hours per week) focus on the diversity, evolution, systematics, biology and ecology of fishes.

Laboratory meetings (3 hours per week) emphasize the taxonomy, morphological diversity and anatomical adaptations of fishes.  Field trips highlight the ecology and natural history of local ichthyofauna in freshwater, estuarine and marine environments.

Note:  A background in comparative vertebrate anatomy, animal behavior, physiology, and ecology is strongly recommended.
