Title:  Queueing & Trace-Driven Queueing Analysis.

Speaker: David Rolls

Abstract:   One of the beautiful applications of probability has been to the study of queues. Whether at Disney World, the telephone network, the Internet or a company's call center, lineups are everywhere. In this talk some basic ideas from queueing theory will be introduced. Their application to the Internet will be discussed, including the use of simulations. Although some ideas from probability will be used, much of the talk will be accessible to a wide audience.
