Title:  A Primer for Bayesian Statistics

Speaker:  Ed Boone

Abstract:

Bayesian statistics is a wide branch of statistics that mirrors the classical or frequentist approach to statistics.  In this seminar we will introduce both the philosophical and practical issues of the Bayesian approach.  Concepts such as posterior estimation and updating will be explored as well as hierarchical methods.  Numerous examples will be provided to illustrate the concepts.  This seminar should be accessible to anyone having completed a Basic Statistics course.
