The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers:

a Master of Science degree;
a Master of Arts degree;
a program that enables a student majoring in mathematics to complete a Bachelors and a Masters degree in a five year period. The key feature of the program is that a student can count up to 12 hours of courses that satisfy the requirements for both the B.A. or B.S. and the M.A. or M.S. in Mathematics;
financial aid including teaching assistantships, new scholar awards, in-state and out-of-state tuition remission awards.

A word from the graduate coordinator

We are very excited about our graduate program. It has been steadily growing and now has 31 students enrolled. We take a personal interest in each of our students. I think you will find our degree programs are very flexible. Each of them

requires 30 hours of graduate work,
has a minimum of required courses,
has thesis and non-thesis options,
allows students to design their own programs concentrating in pure mathematics, applied mathematics, operations research, or statistics.

Many of our graduates have gone on to earn a Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, operations research, or computer science. Community college teaching is a popular career choice of our graduates. Others have obtained industrial employment with professional titles such as operations research analyst, software engineer, or statistical programmer.
