Write the classifications of the following verbs.  Highlight the blue area to see the answers and notes.

うたう to sing

Odoru: Class 1. 
This verb ends in Ruる but it is sound and so it is class 1.
Class 2 ends with "I  い" or "E え" sound and Ru . 

あう to meet

Au: It is class 1. 
Class 2 ends with
Ru at the end. 
Precisely speaking,  Class 2 ends with "I  い" or "E え" sound and Ru . 

きる to cut

Kiru:  Class 1. 
This verb ends with "I  い" sound and Ru so it sounds like a Class 2 verb  but this is one of the exceptions (refer to the Yakuza story on the web to memorize exceptions.)  Kiruto cut ” is written as 切る(homophone).  To wear is written as 着る (きる).
