Page numbers indicate pages in the TEXTBOOK unless you see " WB" (means" WORKBOOK") right in front of the page number (e.g. WB p.1).

Be Aware!!! If you see in the assignment “Do …… (e.g. Do activity 2 p. 10 . Do WB A p.10.) You need to have a written work to show the instructor you did the assignment in order to receive credits. The assignments will be checked at the beginning of each class.

Please make sure the dates of quizzes and the tests. There is no make-up of them unless you make an arrangement with the instructor in advance or within 24 hours after the they took place .

  Dates Test will be on:
The 1st section tests
 
Feb 9 (Thu.) for written and listening tests.
Feb 8 or 10 for the speaking test, which will be in the Kano-sensee's office by appointment.

The 2nd section tests
 
March 29 (Thu.)  for Written and Listening tests.
March 28 or 30 for the speaking test, which will be in the Kano-sensee's office by appointment.

Final Exams JPN 101-001 May 8 (Tue.)  11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

for all the Listening, Written, and Speaking Tests.  (Interview Test can be conducted in my office by appointment prior to the above date and time.)
The final exam have to be taken on this date and time. The interview and reading tests are accumulative!!  The rest are mainly on Getting Started Part 5. No show or being late on the test date will result in Zero score for the test. Please remember the test dates!!  Interview test will be conducted right after the written test on the above date or by appointment.

**Read p.2 (Romanization), p.14 (Writing system), pp.26-29 (Hiragana), p.58 (Katakana) and pp.73-77 (Kanji) to understand the Japanese writing systems and then write which systems are used to write each word in the following English sentence when you translate it into Japanese. Again, you do not need to translate it into Japanese words. Just indicate which writing should be applied to write each English words.  “I ate a green tea ice cream at Tokyo Disneyland.”

Katakana  and Hiragana mnemonics. All the handouts are available in the JPN101 file in the Library.

Right after the written test, please sign up for the speaking test to make an appointment. If you need to change the scheduled time, you need to let me know before your scheduled time. No show on the test will result in Zero score for the test. Please mark your calendar for the appointment!!
