A special feature of the Evening of Brass concerts at UNCW is the Invitational Brass Choir. Conducted by Dr. Johnson, this group is comprised of area high-school, college, and community brass players. On October 13, 2005, the choir performed the "Intrada" from John McIntyre's "Voluntaries for Brass Choir."
Audio examples from recent performances:
"Canzona per Sonare No. 4," one of the first pieces to indicate different dynamic levels, this well-known canzona is performed antiphonally by the quintet.
"Scherzo," a contemporary quintet written by John Cheetham, is a popular work reminiscent of the Wild West.
"Dance," is a challenging piece in mixed meter. Written by hornist Wilke Renwick, this lively dance contrasts the lower three instruments with the two trumpets in the group.
