The Region's Source for Premier Brass Music

The Cape Fear Brass Works is the region's best source for brass music. Performing in area schools, churches, and other venues, the ensemble consists of some of the region's leading musicians playing trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium, and tuba. The ensemble was formed by tuba and euphonium professor Daniel Johnson in 2005. Personnel includes: John LaCognata, Chris Ackerman, and Bill Dries, trumpet; Catherine Creasy, Kim Adams, and Steve Skillman, horn; Chad Horsley, trombone; Ben Edwards, euphonium; Daniel Johnson and David Howard, tuba.

The Port City Tubas is the region's best source for low-brass music. This tuba-euphonium ensemble includes professional and collegiate tuba and euphonium players from throughout the region. Past performances include appearances at RiverFest, the 211 Playhouse, UNC-Wilmington, and the area concerts. In addition to marches, polkas, and other seasonal favorites, the group performs contemporary music transcribed and written especially for tuba-euphonium ensemble.
