Part 2: Recruitment
  
Objectives:
This is a short assignment.  The purpose of this assignment is to:
  
bulletIntroduce you to the concepts and practices of job recruitment and selection
bullet Develop a recruitment plan and list of interview questions based on the information obtained from your job analysis
bullet Determine the extent to which the best practices described in the readings are used in local organizations.
  
Directions
During your interview, ask the respondent to describe how the recruitment process in their organization.  What recruitment and selection methods were employed when the respondent was hired? What recruitment and selection methods were used in other recent hires?  How long does it typically take from posting of an open position to the first day of employment?  Where do they try to recruit for people with the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to fill this position?
   
Presentation
Each group will be asked to share the results of your analysis and share examples with the class during a brief 5 minute presentation.  This will count towards your class participation grade.
  
Writing Assignment
Each group should prepare one memo for the group that describes a plan for recruiting and selecting a candidate to fill the position described in the job add prepared in Part 1.  Your memo is limited to 3-single-spaced pages with 12 point font and 1 inch margins.  You should include a job add and a list of at least 5 interview questions that you would use in the selection process (assume a 30 minute interview) as an appendix to your memo.
