One of the central tasks of any manager is to solve problems and make good decisions.
This section of the course explores the theories behind individual and group
decision making It also briefly reviews several of the techniques managers
frequently employ while making decisions. During this section of the course we will
cover two topics. |

This

including bounded rationality, incrementalism, and the garbage can model. We will

examining some of the common psychological problems that confront individuals and groups. |

This section builds on the previous section by
looking at some of the common policy analysis techniques that have been developed to
assist managers in identifying problems and examining the implications of
alternative
courses of action. Specifically we will focus on problem solving and look at how
different types of forecasting techniques are used to identify problems and examine the
impacts of potential solutions to these problems. We will also look at how
techniques such as cost-benefit analysis have been developed to aid managers in making
better decisions. |
