Turning right on First Street and driving due west would take you to Tubbs
Inlet. Tubbs Inlet, located on the west end of Ocean Isle, is a much
smaller and more dynamic inlet. Tubbs Inlet separates Ocean Isle from it’s
neighbor to the west, Sunset Beach. The migration of Tubbs Inlet is also
causing erosion on the western end of Ocean Isle. If westward migration
persists, the Ocean Isle oceanfront will erode. Dredging of this inlet may
be necessary in an attempt to keep it stable and to prevent further
erosion.
