New Notices will be posted here.Welcome - August 14Welcome to MAT 365! If you are getting this email, then you are currently registered for Vector Calculus, MAT 365. A tentative schedule and syllabus is posted at the course web site - http://people.uncw.edu/hermanr/mat365/index.htm. There you will find links to the textbook by Bressoud. Start reading the book and thinking about the first homework assignments. The web site may need a little more work, but should be mostly up to date as far as the schedule is concerned. This may change if we are closed due to a storm. This course is a little more advanced version of Calculus III. We will see some of the same topics with a little more insight added and some elements of differential geometry. It is definitely a course you would like to take to understand the classic vector theorems (Stokes, Gauss, Green) better and is good background before taking more advance courses in applied mathematics and the sciences. The class meets two days a week at 8 AM. We begin Thursday, August 23rd. I expect to see you in every class and hope you stop by my office in OS 2007J often with questions. Start of the new year with every desire to get ahead and stay ahead. These are a few of the things that you can do to be successful in this class: Plan to read ahead. Do not do the homework, or study for exams, the night before! Do not be strangers and feel free to email me throughout the semester. Your first assignment is to email me and introduce yourself and/or update me on your current and future plans. Locate my office and plan to visit it often. Come in groups ... there is room for several at a time. I hope you had a good summer and are ready for a wonderful semester. See you in one week,
