The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, NC, will host the MAA Southeastern Section Spring 2015 Meeting.  We welcome mathematics and statistics faculty and students from the southeast to the conference. Registration is $25 for Regular College/University Faculty and $15 for students thru mid February. Other rates are provided at the Registration Site. You may register multiple people and multiple activities with a single transaction by adding individual registrations and activities to the cart. Prices for registration will increase to $25/$40 each on February 12, 2015.

All official conference information can be found at the section conference site. The call for speakers will come out in Fall 2014 and the program will be posted sometime before the conference date. Additional information is provided below about lodging, transportation, restaurants, directions and local activities.

There is also a Friday night banquet at which we will provide a Sicilian Buffet with entertainment, Whiskey Creek. Whiskey Creek is Philip Gerard (guitar and vocals), Deb Ross (fiddle), Rick Olsen (keyboard, harmonica, and vocals), Dave Storniolo (Irish drum) and Dargan Frierson (bass, guitar, and vocals) and plays an eclectic blend of Americana, Bluegrass, Country, and Folk music. Participants should register at the Registration Site. The cost is $15 for students and $20 for others.

The University of North Carolina at Wilmington is located in the southeastern region of North Carolina, near the historic district of Wilmington on South College Road, four miles from the Cape Fear River and five miles west of Wrightsville Beach and the Atlantic Coast. By car, UNCW is accessible via I-40 and U.S. Highways 421, 17 and 74-76.

  • Distance:
    It is less than 7 miles from the UNCW. 
  • Flight information:
    Consult the web site  for current flight schedules of USAir and Delta Airlines serving Wilmington and for car rental and taxi services. If there is no direct flight from your city to Wilmington, connecting flights to Wilmington can be made through Atlanta, Charlotte.

By Car

Directions from I-40
  • I-40 turns into South College Road - follow signs to UNCW.
  • Enter UNCW left onto Hurst Drive at traffic light.
  • Continue to traffic light.
  • Turn left onto Hamilton Drive.
  • Turn right onto Riegel Road.
  • Go straight to Parking Lot M on the left.
  • Registration will be in Warwick Center Fri-Sat.
Directions from 74-76
  • After crossing Cape Fear River Bridge you will be on Dawson Street
  • Dawson Street turns into Oleander Drive
  • Continue on Oleander to College Road and turn left
  • Enter UNCW right onto Hurst Drive at traffic light.
  • Continue to traffic light.
  • Turn left onto Hamilton Drive.
  • Turn right onto Riegel Road.
  • Go straight to Parking Lot M on the left.
  • Registration will be in Warwick Center Fri-Sat.

The local bus route is called the Wave. See Bus routes.


In order to park on campus, you will not a parking permit. However, there will be designated parking lots in which you have to park. Failure to do so may result in a parking ticket. The main parking lot is Lot M as shown in the map above. PDF Version Other parking spaces will be posted before the conference depending on the event time and day.


There are many places to eat near the hotels and university. However, you might want to explore historic downtown Wilmington near the riverfront or go to the beaches. Each are only 10-15 minute drive from campus. There are many places to eat along the way.
