In this course we will use Interstellar as a launching pad to explore the mysteries of the universe from its origins to the recent discoveries of gravitational waves spawned by colliding black holes, interstellar travel, and the portrayal of black holes and wormholes in film. I have created a Canvas page with links to the course material. A more direct link to the site is http://people.uncw.edu/hermanr/Interstellar/.A tentative schedule and syllabus is posted at the course web site. The books to be used are posted there. Plan to read them and be prepared for discussions. I'll introduce you to the course on the first day, August 21st. To get started, your first assignment is to email me and tell me about yourself, why you are taking this class, and what you want to learn. See you in one week. The class meets TR 12:30 in King Hall 202. |
