The Spatial Analysis Lab (SAL) was funded in 1999 and opened in January 2000. We have 21 NT workstations loaded with all ESRI GIS software (Arcview 3.3 and ArcGIS-Arc/INFO 8.3), ERDAS Imagine image processing software, IDRISI GIS software, R2V raster-to-vector processing software, and S-PLUS statistics and spatial statistics software.
Peripherals include a large format HP 1055 plotter, HP high-res color printer, large format grey-scale Ideal scanner, and high-res Epson color scanner.
To network the SAL we have a Dell Poweredge 6300 server that houses data, monitors the network, and runs the backups.

The purpose of the lab is to teach students GIS, remote sensing, and spatial statistics. For a list of courses offered please see the Department of Earth Sciences web page.  We have recently added an undergraduate Certificate in Geographic Information Science.

If you are interested in participating in GIS, remote sensing, or spatial analysis research feel free to send me an email.
