The North Carolina Geographer

Now Accepting Submissions

The North Carolina Geographer is published by the North Carolina Geographical Society and serves as a medium for the dissemination of research about North Carolina’s geographic phenomena. The new editorial staff welcomes contributions from geography faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, and professional geographers.  All submissions should conform to the Guidelines for Authors provided below.

Beginning in 2004, The North Carolina Geographer will have a new format with two sections: Research Articles and Carolina Landscapes.  Specific guidelines for authors regarding each section are included in the Guide for Authors.

  • Section I: Research Articles -- This section will include original, peer-reviewed research articles of interest to geographers.

  • Section II: Carolina Landscapes -- This new section includes four components.

    • Current Carolina -- Short essays (1500 words maximum) concerning current events in North Carolina and the region that illustrate the applicability of and insight that geographic analysis provides for an understanding of North Carolina’s modern landscapes.

    • Carolina Lessons -- A lesson plan from an instructor (at any level) that is used to teach the geography of North Carolina.

    • Carolina Geographers -- a biographical sketch of a North Carolina geographer or geographic institution.

    • Book Reviews -- A review of books concerning the geography of North Carolina.
