Guidelines for Submission of Final Copies of Manuscripts

When submitting final copies, please include a clean, complete paper copy and electronic copies (floppy disk, Zip disk, CD, or e-mail) of as much of the paper as is possible.  Digital copies of figures will greatly increase their final quality in the journal.  If you have any questions feel free to contact one of the editors.

Hard Copy

• Submit one clean paper copy of the entire paper.

• References are to be listed on separate pages, double spaced, and in alphabetical order by authors last name. Examples of the format style that should be used are given below.

• Figures and tables should be submitted on separate pages.  High quality photographs may be included (they will be printed in black and white).

Electronic Copies

Along with a complete hard copy, please submit the final version on disk or via e-mail to one of the editors.

• Submit the text of the paper in Word, WordPerfect, or raw text format.

• Submit figures as separate files.  Do not imbed graphics in the text file.  Doing so will greatly reduce the quality of the final product.

            • Tiff is the preferred format.  We can read most other standard graphic formats but they will be converted to Tiff.

·         Do not embed images in the word processing file

·         When exporting graphics from programs, make sure they are HIGH QUALITY images.  We produce images at 600 dpi for B&W line art and 300 dpi for gray scale images.

            • If disk copies of figures cannot be provided we will scan the paper copies.

·         If we must scan, please do not send gray shadings for map differentiations.  Use hatch patterns instead.  Gray scales do not scan well.

·         Please print the copy to be scanned on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of white paper, with the image printed as large as possible

· If you have questions about images reproduction in the journal, please contact Douglas W. Gamble.

• Please indicate the author’s name on the disk(s) and/or in the filename.
