FOR MONDAY, FEBRUARY 9

  1. EXCEL—readings.  You should read ahead of time and highlight areas you are unclear about in the Teacher’s Discovering Book sections E1.06-E1.64.  From the Integrating Technology in the Classroom Text, sections 3.13-3.15.  We will focus on Basic Skills as listed.  Those who have mastered the basic skills will work on advanced skills in a different part of the room this week.
  2. WEB PAGE—readings.  You should read and review the FrontPage manual from the course pack.  This will help you with your web page development.  For February 9, you should have updated your index file on your flash drive to include the following:

§       Your name and any personal information

§       Your email address

§       An introductory statement about you or quote or something you would like to have as text on your page (short)

§       Links (we prefer you do this in a table) technology vision statement, EXCEL project, resume, other professional links such as the ISLLC standards, school sites, DPI, NCLB, etc.

We will teach you on Monday how to create the hot-links if  you are don’t know how, but your site should have the text you prefer and wish to have linked.

§       A story board of what else you would like to include on your site (pictures, graphics, backgrounds, etc.)

During this part of class we will show you how to do any of the above you are unsure of (adding links will be the key topic).

  1. VISION STATEMENT UPDATES (review updates and discuss Word or PDF saving). Bring an updated version of your vision statement saved on your flash drive.  This assignment will be due for review on the 23rd.  Jeremy and John will read and respond using the rubric to assist you in the next set of revisions.

  1. DISCUSSION OF TECHNOLOGY PLANS—bring to class a copy of your school’s technology plan (your school is required to have one, so contact the technology coordinator--school or district--and bring something from your district if your school seems not to have one).  We will discuss the technology planning process and connect it to your vision and the budget realities we face.

FOR MONDAY, FEBRUARY 16

This is not a formal class meeting date.  We will set individual appointments to tutor you on EXCEL, web page uploading, PDF creation and front-page needs.

5:00-5:30

5:30-6:00

6:00-6:30

6:30-7:00

Included on the site will be a link to:

  • the completed Technology Vision Statement saved in word and PDF (to be discussed 2-9) and linked to your page
