Introduced Species

biological control: The use of biological organisms to control the population and numbers of introduced species.
counteradaptations: Adaptations by a species to counter negative effects from predation, competition, parasitism, from interactions with other species.
feral populations: Domestic species that escape and thrive in the wild.
genomics: the study of genes and their function
homogenization of the world: The concept that, because so many species are being transported and introduced to new areas, the world will eventually become one common ecosystem.
keystone exotic: An introduced species that has a significant impact on a natural community it colonizes.
superbug: A whitefly introduced to California that can shift its feeding to over 500 different crop plants, transmit diseases, and can't be targeted with just one pesticide.
'unified' method: cooperation of multiple private and government agencies to solve an ecological problem caused by an invasive species
