ABOUT ANGELA CV (curriculum vita) Angela Y. Douglas, serves the Department of Public & International Affairs as a lecturer of American political structures, public policy, and public administration as well as the program coordinator for the Masters of Public Administration program. Angela is a native of Chester, South Carolina. She currently is ABD at the University of South Carolina where she is earning her Ph.D. in Political Science/Public Policy. She received her BA in Political Science and History from the University of North Carolina Charlotte and an MPA in Transportation Management from Georgia State University . She has career experience in governmental affairs, community development, health and demographics research and data analysis, and workforce development and training. Her overarching research and teaching interests include public policy, youth culture, social movements and poverty politics. She examines five general policy areas: education, economics, welfare, health, and housing. Angela’s current research examines policy choice in the American states, the relationship between politics and policy, the effectiveness of and interaction between social welfare programs, and interplay of social culture, public opinion, and public programs. Angela is heavily involved in the community with varying roles in many organizations. She serves as a Commissioner of the City of Chester Housing Authority (recently stepping down as chair), co-founder and President of the Rosa M. Douglas Scholarship Foundation, executive member of the Juneteenth Festival of the Carolinas, chair of the SC New Jacks. She has been a staple in SC politics serving as a party leader, recruiter and trainer for local political candidates and appointees, and has served on various campaigns (local, state and national). |
