Mar Joe Quarry No. 2 Cave

General Location: SE1/4 SE1/4 NW1/4 sec. 5 T. 88 N. R. 3 E.

Description: This is a small natural cave that was opened by prospectors looking for galena but all they found was a cave lined with calcite spar. Much of the spar remains in the cave though it has been greatly damaged by the miners and later by rock collectors and vandals. When I first stumbled upon it the little cave was really quite beautiful. We called it Mar Joe Quarry No. 2 Cave because it was the second cave that we had found around the then active Mar Joe Quarry. The cave and quarry now lie within the Mines of Spain Park.
