Levens' Cave which is a segment of Levens Crevice was discovered by Tom Levens in October of 1850 on Mineral Lot 371 (Whitney, 1858). By October of 1852 2,000,000 pounds of galena had been removed and in the folowing year an additional 1,500,000 pounds were mined. One single 'sheet' of mineral weighed nearly 23,000 pounds.
