Description: El Dorado Cave gets its name for the El Dorado Motel which it was situated behind. The cave was developed along a minor joint. We found no indication of any galena in or around it though it did appear to have been worked as a mine. El Dorado was one of several 'caves' which have been referred to as the Dodge Street caves or mines. It was a popular place for neighborhood boys to explore and play up until the motel was constructed. The owners of the motel kept the kids out but never blocked the entrances. When I visited the site in 2002 however it was solidly sealed. The Brown and Whitlow Map denote the location of cave with an 'X'.
