Glommy Cave

General Location: SE1/4 SE1/4 sec. 36 T. 89 N. R. 2 E.

Description:

The entrance to Glommy Cave is located in a road cut on the east side U. S. 61/151 about one quarter mile south of the Grandview Avenue overpass. Glommy was a small mine developed in the first opening.  It follows an east-west trending crevice. On the Brown and Whitlow map its is indicated as a closed adit with a series of linear mineral holes to its west. Construction of the four lane highway reopened the tunnel but also resulted in the loss of much of its length. Glommy Cave was still accessible in 2002. The site was studied by Dockal in 1973 in conjunction with his masters thesis.
