How to Declare a Classical Studies Minor

Declaring a Classical Studies Minor

How do I declare a Classical Studies minor?

This is really easy. Go to the registrar’s office, ask them for a form, and fill in the appropriate blank with "Classical Studies." You’ve just declared a minor.

I’m not sure I’ll be able to finish the minor in the time I have left. Should I declare it anyway, or wait until I know for sure?

Go ahead and declare it. There’s no downside to doing this. You’ll get a summary of the courses you need with each degree audit, which is helpful. But if you don’t complete the minor, all that happens is you don’t get credit for the minor when you graduate.

I had a seminar here that was on a Classical Studies topic, but the course wasn’t listed as part of the CS minor. Can it be counted toward the minor?

Yes. See the CS minor coordinator (Dr. Deagon). If she agrees that these courses are appropriate for the CS minor, she can write you a memo to get credit for them toward the minor.

I took courses at another institution that transferred as electives when I came here, but they are basically Classical Studies courses. Can I get credit for them?

Probably. See the CS minor coordinator (Dr. Deagon). As with UNC-W courses, if she agrees that these courses support the CS minor, she can write you a memo to get credit for them toward the minor.
