Creating ArtThe creation of art is a complex procedure that involves virtually all the cognitive and perceptual processes studied by cognitive psychologists. These processes include the accurate perception of the environment, skilled motor movements, decision making, self-assessment, scene perception, memory, imagery, to name just a few. Despite the fact that these processes are central to cognitive psychology, the creation of art by adults has been relatively little studied. Here at the CCPL we recognize the importance of studying the creation of art and we devote significant resources to doing so. Some of the areas we have been studying as related to drawing abilities are: decision making, motor control, scene perception, self-assessment, practice, and eye-movements. We also have been researching the effects of auditory perception, self-assessment, vocal control, and training on singing abilities. |
